SERMON TITLE:WE ARE THE LIGHT THAT CANNOT BE HIDDEN

INTRODUCTION
Beloved in Christ, today we are not talking about church attendance, titles, or noise. We are talking about identity and responsibility.
Jesus did not say, “You will become the light.” He said, “YOU ARE the light of the world.”
Light is not for itself. Light exists to remove darkness.
And Jesus makes a strong statement:
“A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
If the church is hidden, something is wrong. If Christians look the same as the world, something is wrong. If darkness is comfortable around us, something is wrong.

POINT 1: WE ARE LIGHT BY IDENTITY, NOT BY EFFORT
Scripture: Matthew 5:14
“You are the light of the world.”
Jesus speaks identity before instruction.
We are light because Christ lives in us
Light is not borrowed — it flows from relationship with Christ
You cannot hide what God has made you to be
Ephesians 5:8:
“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord.”
Church, you were not saved to survive. You were saved to shine.
Application:
Stop saying “I am weak”
Start declaring “Christ lives in me”
Stop hiding your faith

POINT 2: LIGHT CAN BE HIDDEN — BUT NOT BY GOD
Scripture: Matthew 5:15
“Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl…”
Light is hidden when:
Sin is tolerated
Compromise is accepted
Fear of people controls us
Double life is lived
God never hides light. People hide light.
Isaiah 59:2:
“Your iniquities have separated you from your God.”
Church, holiness is not old-fashioned. Holiness is power.
Application:
Repent where light has been covered
Remove habits that dim the light
Choose obedience over comfort

POINT 3: LIGHT SHINES BEST THROUGH CHARACTER
Scripture: Matthew 5:16
“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds…”
People may argue with doctrine, but they cannot argue with a changed life.
Light shines through:
Love instead of hatred
Honesty instead of corruption
Forgiveness instead of revenge
Humility instead of pride
Galatians 5:22–23 — the fruit of the Spirit
Your character preaches louder than your microphone.
Application:
Be light in your home
Be light in business
Be light in marriage
Be light in leadership

POINT 4: LIGHT MUST BE SEEN IN GOOD WORKS
Scripture: Matthew 5:16
“…that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Good works do not save us, but saved people must produce good works.
Light is seen when the church:
Cares for the needy
Supports the weak
Visits the sick
Stands for justice
Brings peace where there is conflict
When the church serves, God is glorified.
Application for Agape SILOBA:
Be visible in the community
Let Siloba know that Christ is alive
Let the church be felt, not just heard

POINT 5: A CITY ON A HILL SHINES TOGETHER
Scripture: Matthew 5:14
“A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
Jesus did not say a house on a hill. He said a city.
Unity makes light brighter. Division dims the light.
Philippians 2:15:
“Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky.”
What weakens corporate light:
Gossip
Division
Pride
Rebellion
What strengthens light:
Unity
Love
Order
Servant leadership
Application:
Protect unity
Honor leadership
Walk in love

POINT 6: LIGHT WILL ALWAYS CONFRONT DARKNESS
Light does not negotiate with darkness. Light exposes darkness.
Some will reject the light. Some will persecute the light. But many will be saved by the light.
John 1:5:
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
Do not be silent because of opposition. Do not hide because of criticism.

CONCLUSION: RISE AND SHINE
Isaiah 60:1:
“Arise, shine, for your light has come…”
